Informed
Designs Pony Dressage Range: The
Informed Designs Range of Pony Dressage bits have been specially designed by Hilary
Vernon based on years of experience Bitting Dressage Horses and Ponies. The
Bits: English Bits designed by Hilary Vernon and
carefully constructed by Abbey Bits to compliment the conformation of the Horses
mouth to improve comfort and communication to promote effective and humane control.
The Range features light curved mouth pieces teamed with a variety of cheek pieces
to enhance accuracy. The Inspiration: A comfortable Pony will be a more relaxed
Pony and therefore a less resistant Pony. The
Range: Eggbutt Lozenge Bradoon: The diameter of this bit
is 10 mm which creates a light and slender mouth piece to compliment to conformation
inside the mouth. Both branches of the mouthpiece are curved forward to follow
the line of the tongue. The lozenge set on small neatly constructed joints is
the same diameter as the mouth piece to create an even wrap around inside the
mouth. Eggbutt is a good choice of cheek if the Horse is a bit fleshy in the corners
of the lips or has had previous injuries to the corners of the lips. An Eggbutt
cheek also gives more stability to the signals given by the rider as the mouthpiece
is solidly attached to the cheek.
Loose Ring Lozenge Bradoon: The diameter of this bit is 10 mm which creates
a light and slender mouth piece to compliment to conformation inside the mouth.
Both branches of the mouthpiece are curved forward to follow the line of the tongue.
The lozenge set on small neatly constructed joints is the same diameter as the
mouth piece to try to create an even wrap around inside the mouth. The advantage
to a loose ring cheek is that because the mouthpiece is runs loose on the cheek
the Pony can move the bit pressure off the tongue more easily also the signals
that the rider gives have a slight delay before the mouthpiece activates. Hanging
Cheek Lozenge: The diameter of this bit is 10 mm which creates a light and
slender mouth piece to compliment to conformation inside the mouth. Both branches
of the mouthpiece are curved forward to follow the line of the tongue. The lozenge
set on small neatly constructed joints is the same diameter as the mouth piece
to try to create an even wrap around inside the mouth. Hanging Cheek is a good
choice of cheek because you put the cheek piece of your Bridle into the top purchase
of the bit this sits the bit up in the Horses mouth and stabilises it taking some
of the weight of the bit off the Horses tongue. The Hanging Cheek also gives more
stability to the signals as the mouthpiece is solidly attached to the cheek. The
smooth attachment of the mouthpiece to the cheek means that the lips cannot get
pinched at the corners. As the rein is used because the ring of the hanging cheek
is smaller it activates the signal efficiently and you have no play between the
mouthpiece and the cheek. You will get some independent side action because of
the smaller ring. Eggbutt
Mullen: The diameter of this bit is 10 mm which creates a light and slender
mouth piece to compliment to conformation inside the mouth. This Mullen shape
has a generous forward curve to create even pressure across the tongue but allow
enough room the mouth to function correctly. Eggbutt is a good choice of cheek
if the Pony is a bit fleshy in the corners of the lips or has had previous injuries
to the corners of the lips. The Eggbutt cheek also gives more stability to the
signals as the mouthpiece is solidly attached to the cheek. Loose
Ring Mullen: The diameter of this bit is 10 mm which creates a light and slender
mouth piece to compliment to conformation inside the mouth. This Mullen shape
has a generous forward curve to create even pressure across the tongue but allow
enough room the mouth to function correctly. The advantage to a loose ring cheek
is that because the mouthpiece runs loosely on the cheek the Pony can move the
bit pressure off the tongue more easily also the signals that the rider gives
have a slight delay before the mouthpiece activates. Hanging

French Link: The diameter of this bit is 10 mm which creates a light and slender
mouth piece to compliment to conformation inside the mouth. Both branches of the
mouthpiece are curved forward to follow the line of the tongue. The French Link
is a neat plate with small joints well made to give a balanced feel. Eggbutt is

or has had previous injuries to the corners of the lips. An Eggbutt cheek also
gives a little more stability to the signals as the mouthpiece is solidly attached
