Bitting Days are suitable for a group of friends or associates wishing to
learn more about Bitting and who would like individual advice for their own Horses.
The
day will start with a short informal General Bitting talk which is designed to
make the group think about their own Horses and what sort of issues we are looking
at when we look at Horses to re-bit it.
At
each talk we will discuss:
" General considerations before we talk of
changing bits.
" Conventional Bit designs and how they work in the Horse's
mouth.
" Myler Bit designs and how they work in the Horse's mouth.
" How
to understand Resistances.
" How to access the structure of a Horse's mouth.
" The Myler Bitting System and Philosophy.
" How to fit Bits and Combination
Bits.
" How to select the right bit for your Horse.
" How to transition
him into his new bit successfully.
A
full range of bits will be displayed, literature is provided and there is an ongoing
Bitting help line as backup

After the talk we will look at each Horse ridden individually in the tack it normally
goes in and then make an assessment of what both Horse and Rider need based on
the way the Horse goes and the information the Rider/Trainer gives.
Each Horse
will take approximately one hour.
